Sports Reports:

The savage 7th grade softball team took the field yesterday for their first two games of the season. The Bobcats had the challenge of facing the always tough Oakdale Rams in their first game. Oakdale had a beast of a pitcher who was a lefty throwing over 60 miles per hour, and our girls never backed down. They went up to bat ready to swing and played tough. Jordan Bennett led the team pitching hard on the mound, and Jisselle Hinchey had a single as we fell short to the Rams. The Bobcats then took the field against Somerset. Brittany Thrasher pitched a tough game striking out 3 and Jordan Bennett came in to strike out 5 of the final 6 Tigers out. Birthday girl Jayden Gomes was tough behind the plate both games. Offensively, the Bobcats were led by the crushed Grand Slam off the bat of Jordan Bennett as she went 3 for 3 with a triple and single as well. Jayden had a triple, and Brooklyn had a single as the girls were aggressive on the bases and beat the Tigers. Coach Harris and Hemiller are proud of you all and look forward to games next week!!

The savage eighth grade girls softball team took the field again last night in their second double header of the season facing the Eagles of Cardozo and the Rams of Oakdale junior high. After playing the Eagles to a 14 to 1 victory, the anticipated match up with the junior high of Oakdale began. The game started out very well with Savage taking the lead one nothing. Oakdale was able to regain the lead 2 to 1 after an error in the infield allowed two runs to score. Once that happened, Oakdale was able to pick up momentum and never look back in route to their 11 to 1 victory over our lady bobcats.

Sports Report:

The Savage 7th Grade Boys traveled to Riverbank yesterday to tangle with the Cardozo Middle School Eagles. The much improved Eagles played hard, physical basketball, but the Savage Boys were ready for the challenge. Maverick Facha, Caleb Ashby, Adam Ammar, Jackson Wylie, and Michael Rhodes withstood the onslaught of the Cardozo Boys, toughing it out for the entire first quarter. Although they trailed at the end of the first quarter, they all played great and contributed valuable minutes. In the second quarter, the Bobcats dialed up the pressing defense and motion offense, pulling in front of the Eagles for good, cruising to a 53 to 28 win. Eight different players scored for the Savage Boys, who were lead by Troy Navarro with 14 points. Jalyn Cochran scored 12 points, Elijah Armour scored 10 points, Adam Ammar had 6 points, Jordan Banana, Jackson Wylie, and Oscar Clark each scored 3 points, while Jack Duncan rounded out the scoring with 2 points. It was a good team win for the Bobcats, who will host their neighbor Ustack Kodiaks tomorrow at 3:30. Come on out and support your Savage Boys as they play their final home game of the season.

The savage eighth grade girls softball team took the field for the first time the season yesterday. After a disappointing start to the season with rival Somerset not be able to show up on time, savage began their season with a forfeit victory. As the evening set in and the temperature drops, savage prepared for their show down with Salina. Scoring in spurts with runs in the first inning, three runs in the second and a monster five run 3rd, Savage was able to be victorious against the Wildcats. The entire team contributed well to the victory with Avery leading a stifling defense from the mound. Noelany was tough behind the plate as the Bobcats collected the 12-6 victory. Come out today as we face the Eagles of Cardozo at 3:30 and then the premier match up with Oakdale at 4:45

Yesterday your Savage Bobcats took on a very well rounded Somerset team on the mat.  The Bobcats won half the matches yesterday, which put us dead even with our opponet.  We had some close matches and some outstanding performances from our wrestlers.  Antonia Franco, Kevin Martinez, Divine Salas, Seth Manuela, Yishai Lemus, Marcio Martinho, Arthur Para, Angel Torres and Jessie Clark were all victorious yesterday.  This Saturday, our wrestlers will travel to Salida for the Salida Shootout tournament.  Good luck, Bobcats and great job yesterday.
